In Age of Conan attackable NPCs include a variety of animals, monsters and humanoids. When you target a NPC you will see their name, level and health. Additionally, you can get an idea of a NPCs kill difficulty by the color of the target ring.

Grey Target Ring: NPC is a much lower level than you, you will not receive XP or a challenge by killing it.

Green Target Ring: NPC is a much lower level than you, you will still receive XP for killing it, but not as much as you would receive by killing a higher level NPC.

Blue Target Ring: NPC is just slightly lower in level than you, the NPC should still pose a challenge and you will receive XP for the kill.

White Target Ring: NPC is the same level as you, but will pose a greater challenge, this fight could go either way. If you defeat this NPC you will gain more XP and have a chance to receive better loot than if you killed green or blue “cons” (Consider).

Yellow Target Ring: NPC is a slightly higher level than you. This will be a very tough fight and you might lose. However, if you win you will receive more XP than lower “cons” and have a chance to receive better loot.

Red Target Ring: Run! This NPC is well above your level, come back after you gain a few levels.

Age of Conan’s PvP

On PvE servers you will only be able to fight against other players in designated arenas.

PvP - Player versus Player
While Age of Conan has much to offer PvE players, many have been drawn to the game for its true PvP experience. On PvP servers players may kill NPCs, but they may also kill each other. For this reason, your travels become far more dangerous. In addition to keeping an eye open for NPCs, you must also watch for other players, which can at times become quite tricky due to the “Hiding” skill. Some players can remain hidden and seemingly come out of no where. PvP players must remain alert at all times. Upon your death you will receive a temporary decrease in stats.

Our character was once a slave pulling oars on a ship. Said vessel proves to be less than sea worthy and - after a savage storm - is ripped apart leaving us to the whims of the salty sea. Soon we washed up on dry land, on a beach with a lush jungle before us. Quickly arming ourselves, rather ironically, with a broken oar we moved into the jungle. Here we encountered bandits, archers, apes and ugly beasts. Happily most of these creatures were quite easily dispatched, raising our experience level and allowing us to steal clothes - as the loin cloth was just not a good look - armour and items like gold teeth which no doubt would be able to be bartered at a merchant’s stall or shop.

My power supply is 550 watts, I have been told that it is too low, I may need more power

My problem is I usually only get around 25-30 fps, may seem pretty fine fps to most, but this is only when I am in my own personal instances, such as Villas in nobles district

if I walk around in a normal zone I get around 25 +/-

now when I try to record something with a program like “fraps”, it drops to 15-20 fps

If I am in a PvP battle with 4v4 or more the fps lowers to 10 fps, and sometimes even 5 fps even with no programs running like fraps

I want to know what I need to buy or do to improve my computer so I can get a lot more fps, mostly to be able to be in big pvp battles with no problem, and being able to record them

If I need to post any other information I can do that, just asking whats the problem

Also my settings are set from default “High” and then manually lowered, such as shadows off, grass off, water reflection off, shader is 2.0, etc…

I hope someone knows what I need to do

Age of Conan(AOC): Reception

Reviews
The Windows version received an average score of 86.4% based on 7 reviews on the review aggregator Game Rankings and an average score of 85 out of 100 based on 8 reviews on Metacritic.

Dutch online gaming magazine Gamersnet and Norwegian online gaming magazine Gamereactor have both given the game a 9 out of 10 rating according to the official Age of Conan community site. Many publications would not give the game a rating until it had come out of Beta such as Thirteen1 online gaming zine who said it ‘wasn’t fair’ to do so. G4TV gave Age of Conan a 4 out of 5 rating.

Seth Schiesel, writing for the New York Times, felt that the development of the game would have benefited from a few extra months of production. Age of Conan did not receive the widespread mass-appeal of other games that are offered on home consoles, although Funcom has promised a version for Xbox 360 in 2009.

Sales
The game had sold over 500,000 copies worldwide as of June,1, 2008.Six days later, that number had doubled.

Release delays
Funcom delayed Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures on January 21, 2008 and again on March 24, 2008. The delays were widely reported by online game magazines such as IGN and led to significant drops in Funcom’s stock value.

Pre-Launch acclaim
During the past several years, Funcom has twice previewed Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, more commonly known as E3, and the product has received various critic awards for these demonstrations. The following information is a partial listing of those awards.

Age of Conan(AOC): Community

Due to the game being in rumored development since 2003, an online virtual community had steadily clustered around various fan websites regarding Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. By February 2005, this informal community was still going strong despite no true public announcement concerning the rumored game. Finally, Funcom and Conan Properties LLC jointly confirmed the in-development status of Age of Conan in an official press release on April 20, 2005. Shortly thereafter, a primitive game website debuted and thousands of Conan enthusiasts migrated from their fan sites to the new official forums hosted by Funcom. Many Anarchy Online fans also followed the development of the product due to the involvement of Funcom, who created the Anarchy Online PC series.

Between March 2005 and January 2006, Funcom periodically revealed concept art and screenshots from Age of Conan. The Art Director for the Conan project is Didrik Tollefsen, known for such classics as The Longest Journey and Anarchy Online - Shadowlands, which won the Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction award at RPG Vault in 2003.

On January 24, 2006, Funcom unveiled the community portal for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. By this time, much of the pre-launch community had gathered around the forums and IRC chat of the official Age of Conan website. There were informal events such as IRC chats with the developers and, in summer 2006, community contests.

In April 2006, Funcom created a Guild Hall for its pre-launch community and, within hours, forum members began organizing their “player guilds.” These guilds consist of individuals who typically share the same playing styles and gameplay opinions. In January 2007, several important updates were announced regarding class merges and the expected launch window for the game. On January 12th, Funcom announced the original twenty-three classes had been merged down to fourteen classes due to beta feedback.

On April 3, 2007, Funcom began its Beta Sign-Up program which attracted more than 100,000 gamers over the Easter holiday. Shortly thereafter, the “technical beta” phase began on April 27, 2007, and several hundred individuals from the Age of Conan online community began formal testing.

On January 14, 2008, despite earlier comments to the contrary, Pharamond posted on the official forums that there will be an Open Beta, with more details to be announced closer to release date.

On February 7, 2008, Funcom and Eidos announced that over 500,000 people had signed up for the Beta Testing of Age of Conan.

Age of Conan porn

Well, I bet that kind of title will get your attention for sure! Wired blog had a pretty interesting post about AoC, so I thought I would share. Apparently, a website called WhoreLore - which is the creator of ‘Whores of Warcraft’, a porn movie series set in the WoW universe - have set their attention on AoC instead. I mean, making a porn video out of a game which already has adult content makes sense, no?

There is only one episode so far on AoC, and it’s called - no really, you got to hear this - Rage of Bonan. As Wired writes, it involves the very first side quest that you get when you start the game - saving a sexy harlot named Casilda who is chained to a pole at the beach.

Naturally, the porn video involves way less monster bashing and much more of, hm… other activities. I don’t think Mr. Bonan even reaches Tortage with a semi-naked woman distracting him. Saving the city from the tyrant Strom is postponed it seems. What can I say, I find this pretty damn hilarious.

According to a press notice released today, Age of Conan has already scored 400,000 subscribers and lays claim to “one of the best selling PC games of all time”: Age of Conan one of the fastest selling PC games of all time Over 400,000 gamers have entered game - First 20 reviews with an average review score above 90%. About Age of Conan

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is a fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the Norwegian computer, video game developer company Funcom for PC and the Xbox 360. The game launched at 9 p.m. (GMT) on May 17, 2008 in a limited way, being available to those who had pre-ordered the game and registered for early access. The full release of the game for North America was May 20, 2008 and for Europe May 23, 2008 for the PC version. The Xbox 360 version is scheduled to be released a year after the PC release.

Hyborian Adventures is the first installment in the planned Age of Conan series. Age of Conan itself takes place within the continent of the Hyborian kingdoms, a year after the events depicted in Howard's sole Conan novel, The Hour of the Dragon. Hyborian Adventures' release celebrated the 76th anniversary of the Conan franchise.
